Photography

I’m testing out a new plugin for photos and went through my library and selected a few images from some of recent trips. These include signage and sculptures around Dallas, a few shots from Sedona, AZ, Mardi Gras, and Washington D.C.

Food & Type Inspiration

I stumbled upon this hand painted wall in Attack’s NY Office while checking out another design blog. It features some pretty sweet typography that is inspired by some of their favorite restaurants close by the office which just so happens to be between Soho, Tribeca and  the W. Village. I might have to reference this the next time I’m in NYC!

The Great Oil Leak of 2010 Poster Project

A few weeks ago I saw a friend post something about this poster exhibition on Facebook. Being from Louisiana and knowing how the oil spill is affecting so many people, I knew I had to submit a design! Out of all the entries, a few will be selected to be curated by John Gibby and Jeff Lush and then sold with all proceeds being donated to Gulf Aid Acadiana to help out the local fishermen who desperately need aid. Visit the website or check them out on Facebook.

The design I submitted is below. I didn’t want to use the BP logo for anything because I wanted to focus more on the wildlife that is being affected. I started thinking about situation and how we all need to be positive (BP). It’s a subtle reference to the company that is at fault for the spill and I’m pretty happy with the finished poster.

Quick “Fire” Challenge!

A few days ago while at work, I got an e-mail saying there was an urgent request to mock up a full-page advertisement that one of our teams needed for presenting an idea. It had to do with fire safety and I was given this copy:

“Laura Gómez, from Garland, Texas, was 1 of 4 people who died in a home fire yesterday in America.
This should not have happened. Help us save lives by learning the facts at facebook.com/FireSafety.”

Here are two options I came up with:

The World Cup And ESPNs Ad Campaign

From ESPN:

“These promotional efforts include 33 original pieces of artwork — one for each participating country and one general World Cup piece. The look of each work was inspired by hand-painted African signage and movie posters. This hand-painted style can be found in the streets and townships across South Africa and the entire African continent.”

I’ve included a few thumbnails below and all 33 murals can be found here:
